Went to Waverly Hills Sanatorium this weekend.
See a Ghost? No.
Hear a ghost? No.
Picture of a ghost? Maybe.
That I will let you decide. But first I am going to set up these pictures to give you an idea of the lighting in the building and outside items that effects the pictures. Also note I was not using a tripod, or playing with the settings. It was on Auto, with a speed flash.
I also have not touched these photos as far as editing them. Just ask Birdy- she was the one who found the ‘ghost?’ when I returned to the hotel, only the camera screen to see it on as neither of us took a computer.
So we start and you can say what you will of them….
While the tour started at 8:00pm we did not get into the building until closer to 8:45pm, and it does not get dark out till closer to 9:30pm.
The back of the building. Note the first floor windows, and how the porch/ breezeway is on the 2, 3, 4th floor. I took this photo when I first arrived so..7:45pm.
Now the next day during the historical tour I took a picture of the front of the building- note the wood covering the first floor (this I take is to help keep the people out of the building, and the haunted house they do each year is located on this floor) The 2nd floor has some wood covering the windows and the 3rd and 4th none, or at least very little.
Ok- now that you have seen the layout I will share some of the pictures from inside.
This is the first floor- the darkest floor. Wanted to show you the blur I had as I am sure I moved my hand during the shuttle release, trying without a flash just to see the outcome. 1st floor.
Now this is the 1st floor, with flash.
Now is when it gets a little foggy on what floor I was on. Yes- I did not mark or make note of it, way to much stuff to see to care. I will say the 4th floor was saved till last and no pictures where allowed on that floor due to attempting to see “shadows” Even cell phones and flash lights was ordered off. While some light came in ( it is on 28 acres at this time- there is city lights in the background) it was very dark on that floor.
So we go back to the 2nd floor for these pictures. Let me set the stage- Standing facing into the building from the breezeway at the rear of the building, center hallway, and you see the smaller rooms at the front of the building, smaller rooms used for many things.
Now I think this is the 3rd ? floor due to the lighting. I was just walking at the back of the group, pausing at doorways and taking pictures with little care as far as setting the picture up, walking to keep up with the group with two security persons at my back. Walking down the hallway- the breezeway is on my left/ back of the building and the front one window rooms window my right. Note the light, the camera auto setting still used the flash.
These pictures are in a roll- to show you how the lighting was up to the ones with something funky in them. I think a lot, you can tell even with a untrained eye, is reflections. Or me moving the camera to cause a trail of light. But I will let you decide.
These are taken in a roll as the next stop was the roof top. (not the 4th floor- really think this is the 3rd)

Photo #53. The ball on the ground is ‘left’ for the ghost children who play in the building. The kids were kept on the roof, the 2nd and 3rd floor where adults, but seems the ghost roam and why you see a balls on all floors of the building.

Photo#55- the red on the wall is TIX- reflection of the fire exit sign. I do not remember seeing this when I took this picture of what looks to be a shower/ bathroom. The light at the window with the trail leads me to think I blur the picture, moving my hand before the shuttle released. But note the items in the room- the floor items not smearing, blur. And the gray shadow? Well that I can’t figure out. It is not smearing, leaving a trail. Light source? The one at the window I think not but that shadow… is it a ghost?

This is where we left this floor and went to the roof, skipping the 4th floor. I have no idea what caused the red haze, but I will not count out the glow of the exit sign.
I wanted to show you the light on the roof, just to have complete picture of what the light was doing. When I see ‘ghost’ pictures I always wonder about the lighting, location, dust. The roof is what they call the 5th floor even tho it is not a complete floor. The kids, and more violent adults was kept up here with the nurse station in the middle. Swing sets and play ground items was set up on the roof for the kids to use, the adult side open for their use.
First the kids section on one side of the building, then the adult one. These two pictures was taken about five minutes apart, full darkness coming fast.

Now Birdy pointed out the orbs on the roof top pictures. I myself do not think dust is a spirit. We had a debate on this and if I was inside, dark room, and a white round light flew by…maybe. But a roof top, trees about, people stirring dust around, no. But I will put one of the several pictures of ‘orbs’ I got only on the roof top.
Now I do believe in ghost- or maybe more the energy of a person who has passed away. I have felt it two times in my life. But have I seen a ghost? No. Have I heard a ghost? Well this tour was full of teens who would not shut the fuck up so…no.
Did I get a picture of a ghost? I leave that up to you to say. I don't understand the way photos can be effected by reflections, shuttle speed and all that. But I do know not to jump on the band wagon and say GHOST! when I see a strange light in a photo.
But still... what I see as a gray shape, feels like a lady to me, her one hand held up by a cane as she is sitting... is nothing I can explain. And here is one I did play with to see if I could bring out the image more-
And I see it as more of a light bleeding off. But if you darken it...
Oh well- I always like to make up my own mind on these things and I will leave you to make up your own.
